John B. Johnson goes by the title “Identity Architect,” a nod to his early days as an architecture MBA. After discovering his true identity was better served constructing communities rather than buildings, John founded a small studio, a Seattle based creative agency, in 2017.

He now focuses his creative spirit and strategic ability on designing engaging brand-scapes for clients that capture as much of the people behind the scenes as they do the product itself, producing impactful brand infrastructures through a formidable combination of strong technical foundation and the distinct expression of each client’s “why.”

John has expanded his focus into educational programming. Driven by the concept that agencies are walled gardens of creativity, John and his team have developed workshops to share with the general public. “If we can deliver value to our clients we are obligated to make that value accessible to all.” In 2020, a small studio launched their Identity Architecture workshop in Seattle, Madagascar, and in a private prison where John’s brother is currently incarcerated.

More about John:

What’s the best piece of professional advice you have been given? If you are not loving life on the edge you are taking up too much space.” When I heard this saying it helped me take risks more freely, especially before I found my purpose. Taking risks and trying new things helps you find your passion.

What do you NOT want to be doing in five years? I do not want to be doing any administrative tasks at all! If I could just talk to people all day, that’s what I would be doing.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I’ve always wanted to live in The Netherlands. I’ve been their twice in college and it was the most beautiful and inspirational place I’ve ever been. The culture of the Dutch should be modeled after by the whole world. Trust me the world would be a better place.
